On the 24th of September, 2026 at URDT-I LAB 1, a total of 25 young women training at URDT campus in Plumbing- 8, Carpentry and Joinery- 1, Fashion and Design- 12, and Mushroom Value Addition- 4, were guided by the Entrepreneurship Lead (Beatrice Acio) and Disability Inclusion Lead (Alex Muwonge) to develop Structural Tension Charts (STCs) for the businesses they aspire to establish.

Each young woman defined a clear vision, using SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound, also assessed their current reality and identified the discrepancy between the two, and identified actionable steps towards achieving their desired visions.

Using the rubber-band tool brought the concept to life. The young women demonstrated how the tension between their current reality and desired vision can become a force for action provided they take deliberate steps towards the future they have envisioned.
The session went beyond setting goals. It encouraged the young women to see possibilities, understand their current realities, and take responsibility for creating the future they truly want.
At URDT-I, the Visionary Approach continues to provide a foundation for young women to transform their aspirations into clear actions, enterprises and sustainable livelihoods.
