Entrepreneurship


URDT trains young people and artisans to start up their own household enterprise or own business. This is done through:

Results:

  • trained and advised over 2.000 youth and artisans in entrepreneurship and business management;
  • more than 100 skills trainings courses and workshops organised;
  • 50 programmes on enterprise selection and development on URDT’s Community Radio aired;
  • supported the establishment of 7 groups of welders and mechanics in Kagadi town, 3 groups of tailors, 3 groups involved in carpentry, 2 groups in art crafts and design and 1 group in food processing, 5 secretarial bureaus and 1 CSO thanks to the initiatives of URDT graduates;
  • A Tool Refurbishment Centre established;
  • 30 artisans gained skills in tools refurbishing;
  • 3300 artisans from Hoima, Kibaale, Kyenjojo, Kasese and Bundibugyo have accessed tools from the Tool Refurbishment Centre;
  • trained 58 community based technicians (of which 25% are women) and over 50 solar technicians from various districts.
