 Over the years, URDT remained steadfast in its mission and gained a leadership position in the country.

URDT has been acknowledged at local, national and international levels for its innovations in various fields. It received the following formal awards and recognitions:

 2014. Ashoka. URDT Girls School recognised as an innovative social enterprise that equips students as changemakers and links education to home and community development. URDT selected as a Champion for the Youth Venture Programme in Kibaale District.

2013. Food Tank. Dr Musheshe was announced as Food Hero on World Food Day because he founded education institutions that teach students on agro ecological practices for environmental conservation and for producing more nutritious crops for their communities.

2013. Uganda Government 51st Independency Day Medal for the establishment of the African Rural University awarded to Dr Musheshe.

 2013. George Atkins Communications Award 2013  from Farm Radio International for KKCR in recognition for outstanding commitment in reduction of poverty and contributed to food security.

2012. Teach a Man to Fish Award. URDTGirls' school received an award for demonstrating that education pays for itself through its 2-generation approach to education.

2011. Tumaini Award. URDT Institute awared for its youth employability skills training.

2009. BBC Award for KKCR for the most innovative talk show that features leaders and consistent reporting on human rights abuses and corruption.

2005/07/08. UNICEF Awards for participatory programming and best theme interpretation on International Children’s Day of Broadcasting by KKCR

2003/05/07. National Book Trust Awards for URDT Girls School students in national essay writing competitions.

2006. Best Practice Award by European Union Uganda Commission Civil Society capacity building programme.

2005. Rotary Selfless Service Award by Rotary Club of Kiwatule, Kampala.

2005. Certificate of Recognition by Inspector General of Police for role in civic education.

2003. District Inspector of Schools, declares the URDT Girls School a model school of Kibaale District.

2003. Certificate of Recognition for exemplary environment management and practices by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

2002. Certificate of Recognition for innovative approaches to Girl Child Education by the Forum for African Women Educationalists, Uganda chapter, (FAWEU).

1999. Rotary Selfless Service Certificate Award by Rotary Club of Kampala North for selfless service.
